15th Annual City Point 5K River Run & Walk

You may still register for the 5K through the Hopewell Community Center:

They will also have information about the Kids Run through the schools. (Try to speak with Ronnie Parker at the Community Center.)
Packet pick up is Friday, Oct. 28 at the John Randolph Foundation.
You can also register the morning of the race, but the t-shirt will not be included.
On-site registration will stop 15 minutes before the race begins.
This is a Rain or Shine event - For those who are walking, you may want bring a poncho or an umbrella just in case!

Registration: Deadline Oct. 21 Thanks to the Hopewell-Prince George Chamber of Commerce for making online registration possible for this year's City Point 5K River Run/Walk! If you prefer, you may register in person at Hopewell Recreation & Parks located at 100 West City Point Road, Hopewell, VA 23860.
To register for this year's race you do not need to be a member of the HPG Chamber, however, if you are, you may use your HPG Chamber member log-in information for convenience. If you need any assistance with the registration form, please contact the HPG Chamber at admin@hpgchamber.org.
On your registration form you will have the following choices:
- City Point 5K & YMCA Training $30 (Select either Saturday at 8am or Wednesday at 5:30pm)
- City Point 5K for ages 18 & under FREE
- City Point 5K Event Only $20
- City Point 5K Training Only $10 (Select either Saturday at 8am or Wednesday at 5:30pm)
- City Point 5K Kids Fun Run FREE

Join the Run/Walk that's Twice the Fun!
Are you looking for a way to get in shape and celebrate fall? Join the City Point 5K River Run & Walk on Saturday, October 29th, 2011 at 9:00 a. m. in downtown Hopewell.
Dress in your favorite Halloween costume or just slip on your walking or running shoes and take to the streets. Prizes will be given to best costume.
Don't Go It Alone
Grab some friends from your neighborhood, work, club, military company or church and form a 5K team. Name your team and compete for the top three prizes. Winning scores will be determined by averaging the top three finishing times of team members. Teams must register in person or by mail to Hopewell Recreation & Parks 100 West City Point Road, Hopewell, VA 23860. Limit five participants per team.
We've Got Your Number
Pick up your participant packet, which includes your bib number with embedded timing chip and t-shirt at the John Randolph Foundation on Friday, October 28, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. A photo ID is required to pick up your participant packet. Packets may be picked up for another pre-registered participant if a copy of the other participant's photo ID is provided. Parents may pick up a child's packet without an ID.
The Route to Take
The City Point 5K River Run/ Walk begins on Poythress Street in downtown Hopewell at the SunTrust parking lot on Saturday, October 29, at 9:00 a.m. The 5k course is flat, out and back, and includes a scenic run along the Appomattox River and passes several historic areas of City Point. It splits every mile and water is appropriately placed at 1 1/2 miles. The course ends in front of SunTrust Bank at the corner of Main and Poythress Streets with a visual display of the finish line. The City Point 5K River Run/Walk route has been certified by U.S.A. Track & Field.
Crossing the Finish Line
For the 2nd year the City Point 5K is issuing bid numbers with B-tags timing devices! No more hassle with shoe tags, the B-tag is embedded onto your bib number! Now, all you have to do is remember your bib number!
At the finish line, an awards ceremony will be held to celebrate everyone's accomplishments. Medals will be presented to the top finishers. Prizes will also be given for the best costumes. For all of the race enthusiasts out there, record time to beat: 14:56 achieved in 2009!
Make the Move to Assist Students
Go a step further and make a contribution to be divided among the Hopewell Public Schools Foundation and the Hopewell Recreation and Parks Foundation. These nonprofit organizations work to improve the quality of life for students in Hopewell. Your gift will underwrite field trips and enable students to participate in organized sports programs.
