A Global and Local Overview of PMI

The Project Management Institute (PMI) is a global not-for-profit organization of professionals interested in improving and promoting effective project management for business results.  PMI is represented locally in its chapters, educational opportunities, research, and member professionals.  This presentation and discussion should serve those who have interest in improving business results by applying the best practices of project management.

Jane Newell's career has encompassed a wide variety of technology management positions in government, banking, energy and technology sectors. 
She joined state government in Georgia in 2004 in the department providing the state's health and human services as the Director, IT Enterprise PMO and served as Director, Strategic Quality Management immediately prior to relocating to Virginia. For the Commonwealth of Virginia she held an oversight position for portions of the state's outsourced IT infrastructure program. 
Previously she initiated the project management program in a young technology company and served as a program manager in another. She has managed planning and information services for an energy authority. In banking positions she established a decision support application development unit, and provided business consulting for projects in system development and information analysis. In her early career she developed logistics models for the Department of Defense.
